Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV)

This license, once issued, allows you to operate a vessel of up to 100 Gross Register Tons with up to 6 Passengers on board. Often referred to as a “6-Pak” license, this is the first License many individuals obtain and is prevalent in the Charter Boat industry.

Master’s License for 25, 50, or 100 Gross Register Tons

This license authorizes you to serve as “Master” of a U. S. Coast Guard inspected vessel that may be certified to carry more than 6 passengers, but IS limited to the tonnage(s) on the license. Often referred to as an “inspected” license, this license may be used for BOTH “6-PAK” vessels and Inspected Vessels.
